How to find a company's careers page

The page you want is the one that lists the actual vacancies, not the one with photos of the office. Here is how to find it.

Two pages, and you want the second

Most employers have a "Careers" or "Work with us" page that describes the company, its values and its benefits. Somewhere on it is a button, "See open roles" or "Current vacancies", that leads to a second page: the list of vacancies. The second page is the one to bookmark, and the one to give to any tool that watches for new jobs.

You can recognise it easily. It is a list of job titles, each with a place and a link, and usually a way to filter by department or location.

Where to look

  1. The footer of the company's website. Scroll to the bottom and look for Careers, Jobs, Join us, Work with us or Vacancies.
  2. The "About" menu, if the footer has nothing.
  3. A search. Type the company's name and "careers" or "vacancies" into a search engine. Check that the result is on the company's own site or on a known application system, not a job board that copied the advert.
  4. The parent company. A shop, hotel or restaurant that belongs to a group usually recruits through the group's careers site.

When the list is on another address

Do not be put off if "See open roles" takes you away from the company's own website. Most employers rent their recruitment software, and the vacancy list lives on that system's address. These are all genuine:

  • boards.greenhouse.io/company and job-boards.greenhouse.io/company
  • jobs.lever.co/company
  • jobs.ashbyhq.com/company
  • apply.workable.com/company
  • company.recruitee.com, company.teamtailor.com, company.jobs.personio.com, company.breezy.hr

More about these in what an applicant tracking system is.

Checking that it is real

Fake job adverts exist, and they usually want money or personal documents. A genuine careers page is linked from the employer's own website; follow the link from there if you are unsure. A real employer does not charge you to apply, does not ask for bank details before a job offer, and does not conduct the whole process in a messaging app.

Letting Jobofinder find it

In the search form there is a box called "Find a page by the company's name". Type the name and Jobofinder looks for the company's vacancy list on the application systems it can read directly. It shows what it found, how many jobs are open there and a few example titles, so that you can check it is the right company before adding it.

If nothing is found, the employer probably runs its own careers site. Paste the address of its vacancy list instead. Jobofinder reads the links on that page and tells you when one matches your job title. Once a page is in your search it is checked around the clock, and where the form is one Jobofinder can fill in, your application is sent as soon as a matching job appears.

Common questions

Why apply on the careers page and not on a job board?

The careers page is the employer's own list. Jobs appear there first, the advert is complete and current, and your application goes straight into their system. A job board copy can be days old or already closed.

The company has no careers page. Where are its jobs?

Small employers often advertise only on job boards, on their social media pages or in their window. Search for the company's name with the word "jobs", and ask them directly: a short, polite email to a small business is often welcome.
